Shayari #006 (शायरी #006)

Once, Saw a Girl awfully crying in the College Bus, So wrote A few Lines at her condition ...

Un khoobsurat nigaahon me, us aansu ki koi jagah naa thi ...
Ek maamuli mohabbat hi to thi, itani badi bhi koi vajah na thi ...

Naa dhul sake vo sharab se bhi, aisa daag lage is mohabbat ko ...
Uski bikhari zulfon aur kaampte hothon ki kasam, aag lage is mohabbat ko ...

..................................................................................................................

MOHABBAT !! )

Author's Advice: Read it Till the End ... ;)

Uske palken jhukaane se aagaz-e-mohabbat ...

Uski muskurahat me muskuraati mohabbat ...
Uski zulfon me sharmati mohabbat ...

Uske chehre pe nazar aati mohabbat ...
Uski aawaz me mujhko bulaati mohabbat ...

Vo apni adaaon se jatati mohabbat ...
Vo zamane se chupaati mohabbat ...

Mehfilon me ishaaron ki mohabbat ...
Raaton ko sitaron ki mohabbat ...
Vo rooth jaaye to bazaaron ki mohabbat ...
Vo maan jaaye to galiyaaron ki mohabbat ...

Naa nibha paya mai ye baazaron ki mohabbat ...
Gareeb tha, naa khareed paya ye hazaron ki mohabbat ...

Naa dikhi use, mere aansuon me chalakti mohabbat ...
Mere seene me cheekh cheekh kar bilakhti mohabbat ...
Jo kabhi meri thi, kisi aur ki bahon me simat ti mohabbat ...
Badi khubsurti se, khamoshi se badalti mohabbat ...

Sadkon pe tanha chalta mai aur meri chaal me behakti mohabbat ...
Tere ishq me peeta mai aur, meri saanson me mehakti mohabbat ...

Usne palken jhukaayi thi, to thi aagaaz-e-mohabbat ...
Aaj usne palken utha ke dekha, to anjaam-e-mohabbat ...

Shayad koi kami rah gayi yaaron, mai shayad kahin kam rah gaya ...
Vo jaate jaate muskurayi kyun nahin, bas ek yahi gum rah gaya ... !!!

........................................................

It's all about the choices we make ...

They said you are dumb, he made a choice. They said you are ugly, she made a choice. They said you are useless, he made a choice. They said you are a "girl", she made a choice. She cheated him, he made a choice. He dumped her, she made a choice. They said you are poor, he made a choice. They said you are weak, she made a choice. After all those years, we look back and say, "It's all about the choices we make".

When all of them said, "You can't win all those titles, nobody has even ever dared to do so ...", I made a choice and I won everything I participated in. They said, "You don't know how to recite a poetry ...", I made a choice and now people like more to hear me as compared to read my poetries. There is a friend of mine, his father is at the rank of "Havaldaar" (with due respect) in the Indian Army, he chose to be an "Army officer", currently he is in his 2nd year at NDA. See, it's all about the choices we make.

"Life is a path that leads you to a destination. You have to make a choice you want to travel by foot, on a Rajdoot, on a Royal Enfield, on a Maruti 800 or on a Lamborghini."
A guy was ditched by a girl, she went with someone else who had a bike and a wealthy father. The guy had to make a choice either sit in a beer bar, spend nights dreaming about her and end his life. Or follow up his college and classroom from the very next day and become a man of virtue, wealth and respect. He made a choice. :)

A guy once approached a publisher to publish his stories and his writings, that too free of cost and if the publisher gets a good response he can pay him something afterwards. The "busy" publisher refused. Guy requested him at least review my work once, at least see once, what I have written. May be you would like it. But the publisher refused. The guy had two options, either stop writing as there was no way to make any living through it or start publishing on his own. He made a choice. :)

The guy who was ditched by that girl is now a billionaire and soon will be marrying one of his colleagues and the girl who ditched him, is married to a central government employee, who earns 30,000 rupees per month. Leaves his home at 9 am and comes back at 6 in the evening daily from past 5 years.

The other guy started his own website and started publishing his stories. Currently he is one the most renowned script writers in Bollywood and has written several novels.

See, it's all about the choices we make ... :)

There was a person who used to sell spices in the middle east, he took risks, started a refinery. His colleagues told him that it's very risky. He made a choice, The person was Dhirubhai Ambani.

A guy used to work at Amazon, with top quality education and experience. He decided to leave the job and start his own company. He made a choice. His company is currently the top e-commerce company of India. The person is Sachin Bansal and the company is Flipkart.

This 13 year old boy used to sell cold drink in factories and used to deliver newspapers early in the morning. He made a choice. After a few years, He bought the newspaper publishing house and currently he is one of the richest men in the world. The name is Warren Buffett.

When I talk about making choices, I necessarily doesn't mean, that just by becoming someone like Warren Buffett or Sachin Bansal you can become happy. Happiness lies in everything, Sometimes, as tiny as a butterfly or sometimes as big as the full moon. Why should you give a damn if someone says that you are skinny or fat. Why should you start applying all those lotions and creams just because he says that you are too dark. Oh C'mon, give it a break, make a choice. Choose what "you" want to be, choose how "you" want to look and become what "you" want to be.

A mom feels happy when her children achieve great heights. A father feels happy when his son starts earning. A chef feels happy, when a random customer walks into his kitchen just to hug him and say "You have magic in your hands".  A student feels happy when a teacher introduces him to others as, "He is my student :)". A teacher feels happy when his/her student introduces him to the world as "He is my teacher :) :)". A girl feels happy, when her boy kisses her on the forehead. A guy feels happy when his girl spares him from the late night talks and allows him to watch "FIFA". They feel happy in all these small yet valuable things, it's all because these are the choices they have made.

So friends, it's all about the choices we make, make a choice, Choose to be Smart, Choose to be Sexy, Choose to be Successful, Choose to be Wealthy, Choose to be Beautiful, Choose to be Happy ... :)

UPES User's Manual

Note: The article is not meant to hurt anyone's sentiments or disrespect anyone.

Welcoming all the newcomers to university, I have compiled a list of Do's and Dont's for you guys. The aim is just to enhance some of the salient features of the university. Some will be joke, Some will be sarcasm and some will be authentic and factual, it depends on the reader's intellect, what he/she could make out ... :)

1. First of all, develop an optimistic approach and stop regretting about all those institutions, where you could or you would have been. Remember, everything happens for a good cause.

2. All those who had dreams for IITs, NITs, NLUs or IIMs, don't get disheartened, what has happened, leave all that behind, you are still at a very nice college as compared to the colleges of UPTU, Delhi NCR, southern India and Most of the private colleges of the country.

3. The university offers you a great platform, if you have the caliber. If you have got plans and courage, you will get all the required resources.

4. Don't much worry about the placement, The good thing about the college is that it has made a good brand name ;), in just 10 years. But yes, often the problem is that you are not placed in your core company. Studying Petroleum engineering, Geoscience or Geoinformatics for 4 years and then if you are placed in an IT company doing the data entry job than it hurts. Still, people passed out from UPES are in very good positions as, college develops you in a way which is much required in the industry. However, placement is not just college's deed and it won't just depend upon pointer, start developing your CV and skills.

5.
The 75% attendance, will always remain a fantasy ... ;) Well, proxies work nicely, but not all the time, and especially not in the first year. Few faculties are generous enough to save you even at 40% but few are strict enough to debar you even at 66%. So try to balance attendance with all other important tasks.

6. As far as the events, participation and the various student chapters are concerned. To be very frank, the majority of them don't work that efficiently, but yes, there are few who do offer you an opportunity to showcase yourself. Students from UPES have won many competitions in various reputed colleges in India and in other parts of the world too. Participation and organizing is good, provided you can balance these activities with your academics.

7. How to get a 3 pointer or a 10 pointer (This year onwards)? Well, that's something even I wonder :P. Being, from an engineering background, I can tell about the B.Tech streams. Around 60 marks in every subject, in the mid sem as well as end sem examinations will easily do the job, but getting 60 marks won't be that easy. Also, I would suggest don't just die for a 3 pointer, it doesn't guarantee anything, try to learn, understand, imagine and create. :)

8. Supplementary and Backlogs: There have been records of 700 to 800 back logs in one subject in a single semester, although achieving the passing marks is not that difficult, due to relative grading, but sometimes due to a certain faculty, or the kind of evaluation you get a supplementary. The good thing about the maths department is that they show you the answer sheets, the bad thing is that, if you have not done the question there way, it's wrong! Try to get at least 30 marks to be on a safe side, it's not much difficult to pass the examination even if you sincerely start studying, a night before.

9. In the initial months, you will fall in love with these mountains and scenery, and your Facebook timelines will be full of natural beauty, there will be girls and boys clicking those gray clouds all over the campus, but soon you will get tired of these trees and that long 9 km stretch, unless you are a nature lover.

10. Particularly the guys from metropolitan cities, Delhi NCR etc. Will find Dehradun very dull and slow, as there are hardly any pubs or clubs, but the people who love peace, would not even bother to go home.

11. For all those who have come here with their Girlfriend/Boyfriend, to enjoy their relationship and college life, away from home, Congratulations guys! You have come to the perfect place, soon you will be offered an extended honeymoon package of 1 month as summer school from Mathematics or the chemistry department, or both if you are lucky enough

12. The ones who are currently single, go for a shot, don't keep your feelings to yourself, because of the poor sex ratio of college, its very essential to fasten up the things or it will be very tough to see your crush having Masala Dosa with someone else, it even hurts when you could have been a better option for her. So you have got just one college life, go for it, but in a respectful way. :)

13. DSA: Well, there were originally 2 points in this article about them, but then I had to remove both, and Now I have decided, better not write anything about this. I must leave something for you to experience on your own. ;) =D :P

14. SRE: Just one suggestion, try not to end up in arguments, it's of no use, listen what they say, or you would be sent to DSA. :) Just try to get your work done anyhow.

15. For all those, who have come here just to booze and listen "Baba ji ki Buti", don't even dare it at college, the godfather won't spare you, Kukreja & Musoorie road are certainly the best places for you.

16. Avoid quarrels and arguments with faculties and management, it's a private university, nobody gives a damn if you are right or wrong, you somehow just have to pass few years, so try to ignore the retarded minds, being in India you will find some of them almost in every institution and in every department. I agree its good to fight when you are right, but learn to be selective in your fights, sometimes peace is more important than being right.

17. When it comes to sports, you have got some basic and essential resources. There will be competitions throughout the year, the college offers you an arena, but the problem persists, that they are not much focused towards making you Tendulkar or Ronaldo, they want you to become engineers, managers and lawyers (For now at least).

18. Business and startups: The college's incubation center is at it's developing stage, it's recently engraved. There are somewhere around 10 to 12 startups working on campus under the incubation center. There is a working team of E-cell members who organize different events and workshops throughout the year, to encourage entrepreneurship. If you have got an idea and the enthusiasm to stand by it, Incubation center will help you with everything required.

19. Various cultural and social groups of college are very active, and have got great talent Indeed! Let it be drama, music, dance or anything else, you will get a stage, you will get a great supportive audience. Photography at UPES is something which needs to be praised, some credits should be given to the atmosphere of Dehradun, but still they are really talented and hardworking.

20. At last friends, this is your college life and trust me your professional life starts from here, make sure you make it worth. Make few friends, but more colleagues, speak softly, try to be as humble as possible, help others, don't be selfish, be honest. Fall in love but don't ruin your studies due to that, feel lucky to have a heartbreak. Every moment and every person will be a lesson for you, depends what all can you extract.

This is all that I could remember at the moment, I feel sorry if I would have missed something, and again, the views expressed above are my own and NOT meant to hurt anybody's sentiments or disrespect anyone.

Teri Yaadon ke Sahare ... )

Bahut din kaate humne, tere vaadon ke sahare ...
Bahut kuch likha hai humne, teri yaadon ke sahare ...

Pahli baarish me tere saath bheegne ki chah thi,

aur kitne mausam guzarun mai, bas iraadon ke sahare ...

Saawan ki tareek dekar, patjhad guzar di,

fool kab tak mehakte rahenge, baharon ke sahare ...

Rang to kab ke bah gaye hain in tasveeron se,

bas kuch kaagaz tange hain ab, deewaron ke sahare ...

Har rang ki chudiyan khareedi hain maine, saawan ki chah me,

yun kab tak khush rahungi mai, in baazaron ke sahare ...

Maine lauta diye kai sharabi, tujh sang mehkashi ki chah me,

nasha sambhal ke rakha hai ab tak, paimaano ke sahare ...

Ji rahe hain parvaane, bas ab maykhaano ke sahare ...

Kuch raaton ki yaad liye, naa jaane kitani raaten guzar di,

bistar ki silvaten adhuri padi hai, kuch raaton ke sahare ...

Mashoor kar diya hume, teri is judaayi ne,

bahut kuch likha hai humne teri yaadon ke sahare ...

......................................................................................................

Xiaomi Mi3: The Chinese understand the Indian Market, better than Indians.

All about Xiaomi & Mi3:
  • What's the buzz all about? Why the company is so much popular?
  • Why Xiaomi Mi3 was sold out from Flipkart in few seconds and The sale even crashed the website?
  • How it became world's 5th largest smartphone manufacturer in just 3 years?
  • Why it is known as "Apple of China" ?
  • What is the business model of Xiaomi? Why the phones are so cheap, yet quality rich?

The Buzz and The Introduction:
On its debut in India, Xiaomi's Mi 3 got off the shelves in meager 40 minutes, in the second sale the handset got sold out in 5 seconds, in the third sale with 15,000 units on the stake the phone was out of stock in just 2 seconds, and continuing the legacy of breaking its own records, in the 4th sale with 20,000 units on sale, the phone got sold out as soon as the sale started on the e-commerce giant Flipkart.com.

It's hard to believe, that in a country like India, where it takes 2 seconds on an average to load a page, how can a cell phone be sold out in nanoseconds. But this is not the first time the company has made headlines with its flash sales, its just new for Indians. When the Mi 3 initially went on sale in October 2013 in China, the first batch of 1,00,000 units sold out in less than two minutes.

Xiaomi Incorporated is a Chinese electronics company, the company develops and sells smartphones, mobile apps, 3-D Tv, Mi Pad, Earphones, Powerbanks and Cases. The company is headquartered in Beijing, China and released its first smart phone in August, 2011 and it has the majority of its business in China, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and India.

Xiaomi is nicknamed as "Apple of China" as the company sells iPhone like gear at a third of the price of Apple products. The company has recently acquired much fame as it passed out well established giants like Samsung and Apple in the Chinese market with a market share of 5% in comparison with 4.8% of Apple in just 3 years. Also, the company has recently risen to become the world's 5th largest smart phone maker with a market share of 5.1% that too in just 3 years. The company gathered much of fame and news in India due to its business model and the record breaking flash sales. Mi3's sale at Flikart gathered so much traffic that for the first time it even caused the website to crash several times during the sale.

The Core Team and the Fundamentals: Company's success formula lies in its simple yet effective business model. It has 8 co-founders and all of them have strong technical backgrounds and hefty experience. Bin Lin, Xiaomi's co-founder and president, has backgrounds in Microsoft and Google's Android team. Guangping Zhou, also a co-founder and a vice president, has an experience of 14 years as the chief of hardware R&D at Motorola. Xiaomi's Chairman and CEO Jun Lei was part of the founding team at Kingsoft, a Chinese software company. Some of the senior most executives in Xiaomi have worked with Google's Android team, hence they know the Operating System inside out. In September, 2013, the company hired Hugo Barra, who was the face of Android at Google, he introduced all the new versions of Android between 2012 to 2013, which include all the versions of Jellybean.

Qualcomm is an investor in the company, so it is able to procure components easily and probably it is also able to optimize the OS properly for Qualcomm chipsets. Here comes the interesting part, the company has people who know any and everything about the Android operating system, maybe they are the best team in the world when it comes to modify Android in its own way, and the company has the hardware giant Qualcomm as their primary investor, Hence, when they buy the processor, they are totally aware with the build of the processor hence they can easily modify the hardware and the software to work in the most efficient way. Not like the other companies.

When it comes to design, Xiaomi's products are wildly customizable and simplistic, two traits that rarely go hand in hand. Xiaomi is simply a combination of both Google and Apple. From Google, Xiaomi has adopted an open operating platform that can well engage the customers. From Apple, Xiaomi has learned how to master the brand buzz. It has also learned how to compete on innovation and master the elegance in design. And most importantly, all of this is offered at a prize of nearly one-third of the products of Apple.

For example its Mi3, that's being widely sold in India and around the world. It has a 1080p IPS 5-inch screen sourced from JDI and Sharp, the same people source iPhone's screens also. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core chipset at 2.5GHz, this is the same chipset that powered the LG G2, the Sony Xperia Z1 and the international version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. It has 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal memory procured from SanDisk. Its rear camera uses a 13-megapixel sensor from Sony and an LED flash from Philips and all of this is power packed with a 3,050mAh battery which is either sourced from LG or Sony, offering a marvelous 21 hours of 3G internet usage. Interestingly, despite the Mi3 is almost a year old in terms of hardware, it's able to beat new phones like the Samsung Galaxy S5 on benchmarks, Nexus 5 on benchmarks, surprisingly at half of their price.

Effective Business Model: The above mentioned are the simple and clearly visible reasons, screaming about the success of Xiaomi Mi3. Now the question arises, How is it possible ? The reasons are that, Xiaomi follows an online distribution and sales network. It collaborates with different e-commerce websites and sell their products. This way they save 25 to 30% of the distribution and management cost. No outlets, no front desk executives and store boys, no consumption of electricity, rents, transportation or anything else.

Apart from this, the company never exceeds its supply, i.e. it manufactures a limited number of products, making sure there are no left out or extra ones lying on the shelves, which always keeps the company as a buzz among the customers as there are very limited number of units available. But an obvious drawback of this type of network is that, eager customers have to wait a lot to get the product, they often return empty handed as we have seen in case of Flipkart's sale, when 1,50,000 registrations were there and there were just 20,000 units on sale, this often results in lost sales.

Xiaomi reduces much of the dealer's cost and other commission agents by offering phone directly to the customers, the model is very friendly in a country like India where users are more and more cost sensitive. Also, the company doesn't spend a single penny on advertisements, no Tv or internet ads, no printed ads in newspapers or magazines, just mouth to mouth and online social networking based advertisement.

Xiamoi always keeps the profit margin very low as copared to other Brands like Samsung, Apple, Nokia, htc OR Sony. Xiaomi’s elegant yet beautiful looking phones and precise marketing campaigns convince people to buy their phones, and the phones, of course, direct their users to Xiaomi’s app store. Xiaomi also makes much of its revenue through its app store as Google Playstore is banned in China. In many ways, this is the classic internet business model of building a user base with a nice product, and then monetizing it later with add-ons. Xiaomi’s monthly revenue from its app store doubled from April 2013 to August 2013.

Wiped off The "Chinese Brand" Tag: Chinese companies have always been criticized for their hardwares and are not trusted at all. In terms of Xiamoi the hardware is very strong, supportive and sustainable. Yet Xiamoi has tried its level best to wipe out the tag of "A Chinese Brand". Mi3, when first launched on Flipkart, was being sold as "Xiamoi Mi3". But soon the word "Xiaomi" was removed from everywhere. Even now the website is selling the cellphone as "Mi". Even physically, "Xiaomi" is not printed anywhere on the phone, it's being marketed, distributed and sold just as "Mi". Also, Xiaomi recently purchased a new domain - mi.com for a record $3.6 million. Due to this, Mi.com becomes the most expensive domain name ever bought in China. Mi.com replaces xiaomi.com as the official website domain of Xiaomi.

Few Drawbacks: Flipkart had already sold 55,000 units of Xiaomi Mi3 in India. Next sale starts on 19th August, for which registrations are open till 18th August midnight, with 20,000 more units on the sale. However, there are few drawbacks which could hold you from buying Mi3's Indian version. First of all, it has just 13.3 GB of user available memory which cannot be further extended as there is no slot for a MicroSD card. Secondly, you will just get a USB cable and the plug point with Mi3. i.e. no earphones or cases, even company's original accessories are yet not being sold in the country and will be soon available by Flipkart itself. But I guess this can be easily compensated with your regular earphone. "After Service" will not be a problem, according to me, as the company has launched two Mi3 exclusive service centers in Bangalore and New Delhi and a few more service centers in Bangalore, Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Gurgaon, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Jaipur, Thane, Thiruvananthapuram, Noida, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Faridabad, Nagpur, and Indore. This would be enough for now as even Flipkart's sales do not cover the whole of the country and the major cities are included.

After all this research and analysis I can confidently say that Xiamoi has a perfect business model for a country like India and also the few customizations that they have featured exclusively for Indian customers are also working well.
